Grotu ( Gratu ) is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office of Same ( Manufahi municipality ).
The place
The place Grotu, also called Dato Rae ( Datorae , Datorei ), is located in the center of Sucos, at an altitude of 464 m . The primary school des Sucos, the Escola Primaria Dato Rae and a medical station are located here.

810 inhabitants live in Grotu (2015), of which 405 are men and 405 women. The population density is 138.9 inhabitants / km². There are 163 households in the Suco. 90% of the population name Mambai as their mother tongue. 10% speak Tetum Prasa .
Before the 2015 regional reform, Grotu had an area of 4.77 km². Now there are 5.83 km². The Suco is in the west of the administrative office Same. In the east is the Suco Dai-Sua and in the north the Suco Rotuto . To the west, across the river Aiasa , lies the administrative office of Hato-Udo (municipality of Ainaro ), with its Sucos Leolima and Foho-Ai-Lico .
The Suco is poorly connected to the outside world in terms of traffic. For the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 the ballot boxes had to be brought to the polling station with horses and porters and then picked up again. In the north is the village of Coli Dassi ( Kulidasi ), further to the south are the places Grotu / Dato Rae and Leo Dato ( Leodato ).
The three Aldeias Coli Dassi , Dato Rae and Leo Dato are located in the Suco .
politics
In the 2004/2005 elections , Aniceto dos Santos was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Valente da Silva won .
economy
The soils of the region are not considered to be very productive, which is why there is always a lack of food.
