The Suco Letefoho is located in the north of the administrative office Same. To the north lies the Suco Holarua , to the east, across the Caraulun River , the Suco Tutuluro , to the south the Sucos Babulo and Dai-Sua and to the west Rotuto and the Suco Mauchiga ( administrative office Hatu-Builico ) belonging to Ainaro . The east-flowing Ermerin , a tributary of the Carauluns , has its source in the center of Letefoho .

Before the 2015 regional reform, Letefoho had an area of 35.80 km². Now there are 34.48 km². The area around the Moussamau , another tributary of the Caraulun, with the town of Manufahi , was given to the Suco Rotuto, in return Letefoho received areas on the border with Ainaro from Holarua. There were also other minor border straightenings.

In the center of Letefoho is the municipality capital Same , which extends with its suburbs into the neighboring Suco Babulo. The settlement center Same in Letefoho includes the districts Ria-Lau ( Rialau ), Manico 1 , Manico 2 , Cotalala ( Kotalala ), Rai-Ubo ( Raiubu ) and Akadiruhun . To the northeast are the villages of Malus-Hun , Ailuli and Ladiqui ( Ladique , Ladiki ), to the northwest Tomanamo and Cato Lada and to the west of the Sucos Sabou . Due to the heavy population, the Suco Letefoho is classified as "urban". A country road leads from Same to Maubisse in the north and Betano in the south. A junction leads to Alas and Welaluhu in the east. In the Suco there are the Escola Primaria Ladique , the Escola Primaria Catolica São Arcanjo and four other primary schools. There is also a preschool, two pre-secondary schools, a police station, a helipad and a medical station in the west in the Suco.

In the Suco there are the seven Aldeias Ailuli , Cotalala , Ladiqui , Manico , Rai-Ubo , Ria-Lau and Tomonamo .

history

Same old market. The building was destroyed by the Indonesian army and had not yet been rebuilt in 2010

Same was the capital of the Empire of Manufahi, which offered resistance to the Portuguese colonial rulers until 1912 .

During the civil war between FRETILIN and UDT in the last days of Portuguese colonial rule, most of the residents of Letefoho fled their homes into the mountains on August 11, 1975. They feared being abducted by the UDT after FRETILIN supporters had been killed in Wedauberek ( Alas administrative office ).

At the end of 1979 there were Indonesian camps for East Timorese in the city of Same and another place in Letefoho , who were to be relocated by the occupiers for better control.

In 1999 the city of Same was almost completely destroyed by pro-Indonesian militias during the Indonesian Operation Donner .

On March 1, 2007, the fugitive rebel leader Alfredo Reinado was trapped in Same with 150 men by Australian ISF soldiers. About a hundred residents fled the place. On March 4, the Australian Army stormed the place with the help of helicopters and armored vehicles. Five rebels died, while no one was injured by the Australians. Reinado managed to escape, but some rebels were captured.

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Agapito da Costa elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
