Guadalajara is an Austrian band that was founded in 1999 in Feldbach .

history

After the band was founded in 1999, they came second in 2001 at the “Austrian Newcomer Band Competition” in Graz . In 2002 the first album All you can Dance was released . Shortly afterwards, lead singer Ernesto left the band - guitarist and singer Volker Schaffler followed him. Trumpeters Bernhard Kaufmann and Volker Schaffler wrote the lyrics from then on.

In 2003 Guadalajara toured Austria and Germany together with 3 Feet Smaller, among others . With the cover version of the song I Don't Like Mondays by Bob Geldof , they were also played on various Austrian alternative radio stations such as FM4 , Campus Radio or Soundportal . The latter found them in the annual charts. In 2004 Guadalajara played two of the largest Austrian festivals, the Two Days a Week in Wiesen and the Frequency Festival at the Salzburgring with bands such as Velvet Revolver , The Offspring , Dropkick Murphys , Flogging Molly and Die Ärzte in addition to a large number of club appearances .

Shortly afterwards, long-time bassist Thomas Rathkolb left the band. In December 2004 the band recorded their second album together with transitional bassist Gerald Zollner in the Naked Lunch studio . In early March 2005 the album was released with the name Trampled Pathways . Coupled with the release there was a headliner tour through Austria. Trampled Pathways was voted record of the week by the Alternative Radio Soundportal and the first single, Short time Romance , climbed to number 3 in the Soundportal charts. The number stayed at number one in the independent club user charts for two weeks and in the top 10 of the campus radio charts for weeks. There is also regular radio airplay on FM4. From February to September 2005 Guadalajara played almost 50 concerts, including both at the Aerodrome Festival and at the Danube Island Festival on the FM4 stage.

Joe Laller then joined the band as a permanent bass player. The Guadalajara DVD Live at the PPC will be released on April 4, 2006 . The band released the DVD on the specially founded label "Slapstick Records". This is followed by numerous shows in Austria and in neighboring countries as headliners. At the end of April 2006, the band played a two-week tour through Italy, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Germany. In Latvia, the single Burn them Down stayed in the alternative radio charts for four weeks. In total, the song was in the top 10 of the alternative charts for 12 weeks. In June 2006 Guadalajara played at the Nova Rock Festival. In November / December 2006 Guadalajara played together with 3 Feet Smaller and Vanilla Sky on the traditional "Punk is dead Tour". A total of 17 dates on six weekends led the three bands through Austria, Italy and Slovenia . Gregor Münch, former guitarist with Once Tasted Life and long-time guest musician with Guadalajara, joined the band in 2007. The band then worked on songs for the next album, which was released in February 2008. For the album, the band spent eight months in the studio with Darian Rundall, the producer of Pennywise , Suicidal Tendencies and Yellowcard , among others .

In May 2010, Volker Schaffler (vocals, guitar) and Bernhard Kaufmann (trumpet) left the band for personal and professional reasons. Patrick Lux took over for Volker Schaffler, Matthias Bistan took over the trumpet for Bernhard Kaufmann.
