Gustav Reinhardt
Gustav Reinhardt (* 1950 in Salzburg , Austria ) is a sculptor living in Germany .
life and work
Reinhardt was born in Salzburg and grew up in Korntal near Stuttgart . He received vocational training at Porsche in Stuttgart. He has lived in Berlin since 1969 , where he studied architecture at the Hochschule der Künste . From 1975 to 1978 he created metal sculptures as an autodidact . From 1979 he studied sculpture at the Berlin University of the Arts with professors Phillip King , David Evison and Robert Kudielka . In 1981 he worked briefly in Phillip King's studio in London and had contacts with Anthony Caro . In 1982 he was a co-founder and organizer of the artist group Odious with his fellow students Klaus Duschat , David Lee Thompson , Klaus H. Hartmann , Hartmut Stielow and Gisela von Bruchhausen . These six artists worked for many years in a joint studio in Berlin and exhibited together as an artist group. In 1984 Reinhardt studied with the British sculptor David Evison.
From 1985 to 1990 he was head of the Berlin Sculpture Workshop , in the former Arnhem safe factory. In 1992 he organized the Stahl '92 workshop in Berlin, where the British sculptor Tim Scott was in charge.
