Parish before the merger on December 31, 2000

Until December 31, 2000, Guttet was a political municipality in the Leuk district in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland .

On January 1, 2001, it merged with the municipality of Feschel to form the new municipality of Guttet-Feschel .

history

Guttet was first mentioned in a document as de gottet in 1261 . In addition to the center, the hamlets of Grächmatten and Wiler also belong to the mountain village on the northern slope of the Rhone Valley near Leuk . The village belonged to the parish of Leuk; a church is first mentioned in 1520, which was rebuilt in 1874. The rectorate , raised to its own parish in 1863 , had existed since 1822. Feschel belonged to this from the beginning until 1903 and from 1925 onwards.
