Erschmatt is a parish of the dean's office Leuk and a district of Leuk in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland .

Until December 31, 2012 Erschmatt was a political municipality in the Leuk district . The community joined the community of Leuk on January 1, 2013.

geography

Erschmatt is located in the Leuker Sonnenberge on the dry southern slope of the main Valais valley. The hamlet of Brentschen (1542 m) belongs to the former municipality.

architecture

The townscape of Erschmatt is of national importance. In 2008 the “Erlebniswelt Roggen Erschmatt” association received the Raiffeisen Prize from the Oberwalliser Heimatschutz. In 2013 Herbert Lötscher built the world's first residential building based on the Heliodom solar house concept .
