history

The Hochstadt grammar school was founded in 1947 as a secondary school and received state approval five years later. In 1959 the school, which had been renamed Oberrealschule two years earlier , was nationalized and in 1963 received approval for a 9-stage school with a high school diploma. In 1964 they moved from the building on the market square (today's town hall) to the newly built, meanwhile demolished "old building" at today's address in Bergstrasse.

After the name was changed to "Gymnasium Höchstadt ad Aisch - mathematical-natural science high school" in 1965, the first Abitur was passed in 1966. In the same year the modern language branch was introduced.

In 1967 the west building was occupied. In 1974 a branch began operating in Herzogenaurach , today's Gymnasium Herzogenaurach (since 1978). In 1978 the college level building was occupied. In 1980, teaching began in a five-day week.

In 1997, teaching began in the newly built south-facing building. 1999–2002 the high school took part in the school experiment European high school type III . In 2007 the school canteen was inaugurated. In 2009 the 50th anniversary was celebrated (the official founding year 1959 at the time the state school opened). In 2012, the west building was renovated and modernized (classes began in the 2012/13 school year) and the old building was torn down. For the 2014/15 school year, they moved into the north building, which was built on the site of the old building and contains new, modern rooms for IT, chemistry, biology and art. In September 2015 the auditorium and the rooms connected to it were completely renovated and reopened. In 2016, the city of Höchstadt built a dual gymnasium. In 2017 the grammar school became a member of the national excellence school network MINT-EC . In 2019 the 60-year-old high school was celebrated.

In addition to the regular subjects, the Hochstadt high school also offers many elective options. Among other things, the diverse musical offerings such as choirs, orchestras and big bands (see also choir classes), instrumental lessons, scientific working groups (youth research, technical works) and sporting activities (school teams, golf courses) are well known. German and foreign language theater groups, computer services, medical training and much more round off the varied offer.

As part of the upper level, in addition to the changing project seminars and science propaedeutics (according to the new G8 upper level), the courses "Biological-chemical internship", "Dramatic design", "Photography", "Art and product design", "Instrumental ensemble", "Vocal ensemble "and" Business English "are offered.

As of the 2014/15 school year, the classrooms in the west building, all specialist and classrooms in the north building, and some rooms in the other parts of the building are equipped with interactive whiteboards. Since the 2013/14 school year, the Höchstadt high school has had the distinction School without Racism - School with Courage . This title shows that the school family consciously campaigns against racism, marginalization and disadvantage in public. As part of a pilot experiment, there is the possibility at the Hochstadt high school to extend the intermediate level from year 8 to 10 by one school year (year 9+). This so-called Middle Level Plus serves as a test to explore the possibilities of reintroducing a regular nine-year high school branch. In the plus train, the same content is taught in all subjects as in the regular train, with the main subjects being extended over the additional year and some minor subjects being suspended in individual years in order to reduce afternoon classes.

School degrees offered
