The Jagsttal-Gymnasium Möckmühl is a general educational, mathematical , scientific and modern-language high school in Möckmühl . It has its roots in the Choir Foundation with Latin School Möckmühl, founded in 1379, one of the oldest Latin schools in Württemberg , and is therefore one of the oldest schools in Germany .
history
1379–1839: Choir with Latin school
The school history in Möckmühl dates back to 1379. At that time a choir monastery with a Latin school was founded. Since the time of the Reformation, the Möckmühler pupils have been able to obtain the “ Landexamen ”, then attend a monastery school and then attend the State University of Tübingen .
1840–1968: Progymnasium and Gymnasium Möckmühl
In 1840 the Latin school became a secondary school with a gymnasium orientation. Due to this orientation, it was renamed Oberschule Möckmühl in 1933, before it was called Progymnasium Möckmühl after the Second World War and from 1952 also led to the secondary school leaving certificate . In 1966 the expansion of the upper level began. From then on, the school was called the Möckmühl Gymnasium. In 1968 the first students in Möckmühl were able to take their Abitur .
1969–2016: Establishment of a school center
In 1969 the construction of a school center began in Lehlestrasse, which still houses the secondary school, the secondary school and the Möckmühl grammar school. Two gyms and an indoor swimming pool complement the school center. In 1971 the current main building was occupied. In 2000, a cube-shaped extension was opened. In 2010, another extension with a cafeteria and specialist rooms was started, which was completed in 2012. The new building was completely renovated in 2014 and is now ultra-modern and very energy-efficient.
Since 2016: Jagsttal-Gymnasium Möckmühl
On March 3, 2016, the Möckmühl grammar school was renamed "Jagsttal-Gymnasium Möckmühl".

All-day school and study groups
The Möckmühl grammar school can be used as an all-day school. In addition to the range of courses, a number of all-day offers and working groups are available, including, for example:

In 2015, an online school newspaper of the Möckmühl high school was founded under the title Whisper - the raccoon . Their content focuses on, among other things, interviews with new teachers, important people in the Möckmühl region as well as current and former students who have done or have something special to say, reports and reports on special events at the school, excursions, student exchanges and actions by the student council , Reports from all over the world, school sports, school jokes, comics and leisure tips as well as book and film tips for schoolchildren.

France
Since 2007 there has been a regular student exchange with French-speaking students from La Réunion , an island in the Indian Ocean that politically forms an overseas department and a region of France .
There are also other regular student exchange trips to France. There are partnerships with the French schools Lycée Hôtelier et Polyvalent Hyacinthe Friant in Poligny and since 2013 with the Lycée Edmond Rostand in Saint Ouen l 'Aumône (SOA).
Italy
There is a regular student exchange between the Möckmühl grammar school - in cooperation with the Werkrealschule and the Möckmühl secondary school - with Italian schools in the Möckmühl twin town of Cherasco .
Spain
There is a school partnership with the Spanish school Caxton College in Puçol for regular student exchanges.
England
There is a regular student exchange with Waingels College in Woodley .
orchestra
An orchestra is formed in cooperation between the grammar school and the Möckmühl music school .
Circus project
In the 2015/16 school year, a circus project ("Circus Zappzarap") took place at the Jagsttalgymnasium Möckmühl for the first time, in which all students and teachers prepared a circus performance for a week.
