history

The first written mention of the Funkenstein settlement took place in 1536. It was built on a bailey of Funkenstein Castle and was part of it. The forest areas where the villages of Pirkenhammer , Kohlhau and Schneidmühl , which had been separated from the cadastre of Funkenstein since 1713, were also part of the castle rule .

After the abolition of patrimonial Funkenstein / Funkenštein formed a municipality in the Karlsbad district from 1850. In 1857 a school opened in Funkenstein. At the end of the 19th century, Josef Löwi built a small castle below the castle hill, which he called "Meczery-Höhe". It served him as a summer residence and as a coffee house.

The community consisted of 37 houses on December 31, 1900 and had 273 inhabitants, 269 of whom belonged to the German ethnic group. In 1930 Funkenstein had 232 inhabitants. As a result of the Munich Agreement , Funkenstein was annexed to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Karlsbad district until 1945 . During this time the Czechs were forcibly resettled to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . In 1939 there were 255 people living in Funkenstein. After the end of the Second World War, the community came back to Czechoslovakia. In 1945 the name was changed to Háje. This was also when the expulsion of most of the Germans began. The new settlers came from Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia. There were also some who did not manage the farms, but only plundered them. Overall, many homesteads remained uninhabited, fell into disrepair and were eventually demolished.

From 1946 to 1960 Kolová belonged to the Okres Karlovy Vary-okolí and since 1961 again to the Okres Karlovy Vary. In 1961 it was incorporated into Kolová . In 1991 the place had 71 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 28 houses in which 79 people lived. In 2005 the Háje Golf Club opened the golf course .
