Hörle is the smallest district of the city of Volkmarsen in the northern Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .

Geography (and legend)

The cluster village is located on a triangle where Westphalia , Hesse and Waldeck meet. The source of the Hüpper is located in the village. This small brook already flows into the Welda brook coming from the direction of Dehausen , where it flows into the Twiste in the Westphalian town of Welda (of the same name) . The border between Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia runs between Hörle and Welda. In Hessian the stream is officially called Welda , from the state border of North Rhine-Westphalia it is called "Hörler Bach".

According to legend, a frog called "Höpper" in the Hüpper brook saved a child who had fallen into the water from drowning by croaking loudly. Out of gratitude and to honor him, a memorial was placed at the source. The frog is the symbol of the place. It adorns the club flag of the mixed choir and the uniforms of the volunteer fire brigade.

The neighboring towns of Hörle are Herbsen in the south, Ammenhausen or Schmillinghausen in the west, Dehausen in the north and Welda in the east.

history

Settlement historians assume that Hörle could have originated as early as 400 AD and is therefore older than Volkmarsen. Hörle is first mentioned in a document in 1128.

In 1703 the Danes were to be prevented from marching through at the Battle of Hörle. The father of the famous Frankfurt writer and local poet, Friedrich Stoltze (1816-1891), Friedrich Christian Stoltze was born on March 27, 1783 in Hörle.

On August 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the previously independent municipality of Hörle was incorporated into the city of Volkmarsen by state law.
