The Hörmann KG , based in East Westphalia Steinhagen is a German manufacturer of gates , doors , frames and drives .

Company history

The company was officially founded in Bielefeld in 1935 under the name “ Bielefelder Stahltore ” by August Hörmann (1886–1944) . His son Hermann Hörmann (1912–1994) took over the company in 1944 and relocated the company headquarters to Steinhagen (Westphalia) . With the addition of the up-and-over garage door to the product range, he laid the foundation for today's corporate group .

The family company is now in the third and fourth generation of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the company founder. Personally liable partners are Thomas J. Hörmann, Martin J. Hörmann and Christoph Hörmann.

Products

The foundation stone for today's company was laid in the 1950s with the industrial manufacture of an up-and-over garage door, the so-called "Berry Gate". The product range has been continuously expanded since then and today also includes sectional , roll -up, fire protection and high-speed doors , gate drives and controls as well as loading technology systems , fire and smoke protection closures , house and interior doors and frames .

With the acquisition of the PILOMAT company , access control systems such as bollards and road barriers have also been part of the manufacturer's product range since September 2016 . In 2018, the product range was expanded to include barriers and parking management systems , which the manufacturer includes pay machines and vehicle registration systems, through the takeover of Hermann Automation GmbH . The new product range was presented to the public for the first time at Bau 2019 .

Hörmann has a total of 38 production plants in Europe , North America and Asia and is represented by sales partners in over 100 of its own sales locations in more than 40 countries and in over 50 other countries. In addition to the sales and production locations, Hörmann has several training and exhibition centers for its employees and customers, including the Hörmann Forum at the company's headquarters in Steinhagen and an assembly center near Stuttgart .

Social, cultural and community engagement

Hörmann supports projects of non-profit organizations and institutions, which z. B. deal with the situation of disabled or chronically ill people.

In addition, Hörmann is also present in sports, e.g. B. with perimeter advertising at international matches of European national soccer teams (including the German national soccer team) , as a sponsor of the ATP Halle in Halle (Westphalia) and as a premium sponsor of the IBU World Cup in biathlon . Since the 2018/19 winter sports season, the company has also been the official main sponsor of the Four Hills Tournament and event sponsor of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cups in Ruka and Zakopane .

Hörmann has been covering all of its energy needs in Germany with green electricity from Naturstrom AG since 2017 .
