The federal highway 8 also runs there . To the east is the Kitzingen district of Siedlung , whose area has merged with the Hagenmühle. To the southeast is Sickershausen , also a district of Kitzingen. The south-west is taken by Hohenfeld, which is connected to the mill via State Road 2271 along the Main. Kitzingen itself is west of the mill.

history

The Hagenmühle probably already existed in the 14th century. The name, which probably refers to the profession of miller , can no longer be clearly assigned to any person. A certain Dieterich can be identified as the first miller in Hohenfeld. In 1347 "Heinz Müller" was mentioned. However, it is unclear whether both were already sitting on the Hagenmühle, because it was first mentioned in 1355 as "Hagenmühl bei Kitzingen (...)".

The mill was probably leased to various owners by its masters . So in 1425 Claus Müller from Seligenstadt and Walther Rupp were named. The tenants could also bequeath the mill. In 1425 the landlord of the Hagenmühle was the Kitzingen hospital . The hospital master Fritz Fleischmann handed the mill over to the two tenants for three years. In 1493 a miller Valentin bought the plant from Rupp's widow Anna.

In 1507 the Hagenmüller was obliged to pay a special tax to the Hohenfeld community on Martinstag . He had previously built a new vestibule for his business. In the 16th century the mill stocks changed quite frequently. So between 1521 and 1523 "Heinz Herdegen" was called. Endres Reinhardt owned the mill in 1537, before "Nikolaus Beck" from Kitzingen was mentioned around 1550. He was probably replaced in 1553 by Hans Appelmann from Künsberg .

The end of the Middle Ages was associated with some legal disputes for the Hagenmühle. So the inventory often argued with the owners of the Galgenmühle further upstream, who temporarily dammed the water and made the operation of the Hagenmühle impossible. In addition, the mill subject of a denunciation dispute dating back to 1561. The house was the plant was in Hohenfelder district , however, belonged to the district of Kitzingen Court .

The Reinhardt family owned the mill during the first half of the 17th century . She also had the oldest parts of the buildings still preserved. In 1612 the tower was built with an alliance coat of arms , which reminded of Hans Reinhardt and his wife Regina, née Bauer. In 1642, the mill came to Johann Krauss via detours, who sold it to the Hohenfeld community in 1674 . The Hagenmühle only stayed there until 1675, but was renovated.

The marking dispute had meanwhile been settled, since the community of Hohenfeld and the Kitzinger Spital shared the bailiwick over the mill. Both the Kastner of the Margrave of Ansbach-Bayreuth and the Kitzingen hospital master sealed a sale . In the first half of the 18th century, the Hagenmühle was part of the Vogtei Würzburg . It was not until 1850 that the basic loads were replaced and the Hagenmühle came into private hands. The mill was still in operation in 1933.

Attractions

The buildings of the former Hagenmühle have been classified as architectural monuments by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments . The residential building presents itself as a large two-storey building with two wings that meet in a rectangular shape. They end with a hip and a gable roof . A polygonal tower was added to the houses in 1612 . Above the tower portal there is a coat of arms stone with the alliance coat of arms Reinhardt-Bauer, grapes and rakes. All buildings date from the 16th and 17th centuries.

In 1933, the Hagenmühle estate consisted of other buildings. A barn , a wooden hall, a cellar house, a courtyard and a summer garden surrounded the houses. The mill was operated with three grinding courses and also had a flood tunnel. In addition to the large grain mill, a gypsum mill was set up in the Hagenmühle in 1878. It was demolished in the 19th century and replaced by a cutting mill in 1893 . In 1921 the system received a horse engine.
