The Hahnebach is a 4.1 km long, right or western tributary of the Eder tributary Elbe in the north Hessian district of Kassel . It has a catchment area of 5.04 km².
Its source is in the Naumburg city forest between Altendorf and Böhne in the old forest (natural area 340.14), the southern branch of the Waldecker forest (NR 340.1). From there the brook flows about 1.4 km in several gentle turns to the east through the forest until it - after flowing through three ponds located one behind the other at the edge of the forest - enters the Elbenberger Feldmark . After a further 400 m, it flows through a fourth pond about 100 m south of Guts Waldhof, built around 1870 and operated as an organic farm and holiday home for about 30 years, and the Todtenhausen desert there .
Then it bends 200 m further east to northeast and flows along the northwest side of a low, wooded ridge . At its north-eastern end after approx. 600 m of flow, the stream turns back to the north-northeast and then runs in a straight line along the Hahnebachsweg in the direction of Elbenberg. After about 950 m, it crosses the L 3214 state road from Fritzlar in the south to Naumburg in the north. 550 m further on it reaches the sports field on the southern edge of Elbenberg and flows into the Elbe at its northwest corner at the former Hardtmühle.
