Hal över Bremer Fahrgastschifffahrt GmbH is the name of a Bremen- based passenger shipping company . At the same time, the call "Hal över" (High German: "Hol over") is a synonym for the "Sielwall ferry" operated by this company. This passenger ferry across the Weser , whose jetty on the city side is between the ramparts and the Weser Stadium on Osterdeich , runs from March to October to Café Sand on Stadtwerder in the Huckelriede district .

history

"Hal över" ('Hol over') was once the Low German call for the ferryman on the other bank. In 1984 such an association was called, which initially ensured the survival of the Sielwall ferry, later also the ships Ostertor , Das Schiff No. 2 , Punke and the cog replica Roland von Bremen took over and helped found the Café Sand.

The association for home care and local recreation became the sponsor of Hal över, Gesellschaft für innovative Stadttouristik mbH , which took over the Schreiber-Reederei with the ships Oceana and Hanseat in 2002 .

The Schreiber-Reederei originally had three similar-sized ships of the same size after the Second World War - Germany , Weserstolz and Oceana  - with which the liner shipping from Bremen to Bremerhaven was operated. The MS Friedrich , built in Hamburg in 1879 and based in Bremen since 1918 , was the workshop ship of the Schreiber-Reederei for many years.

Society and its fleet

With its ships, the company organizes harbor tours, social trips and scheduled trips to Bremerhaven , Oldenburg , Badener-Berge and Verden . The landing stages are on the Schlachte below the St. Martini Church on the banks of the Weser in the immediate vicinity of the city center; as well as in Vegesack , Flethe and Farge .

  • Hanseat , a passenger ship for 400 people built in 1988 at the Hegemann / Roland shipyard in Bremen, part of the Hegemann Group
  • The ship no. 2 , a 141-person passenger ship built in 1990 at the Navimatra Nederland BV shipyard
  • Punke , a self-built passenger ship for 48 people in Winningen on the Moselle in 1990 , is occasionally used to reinforce the Sielwall ferry. The name “ Punke ” goes back to an outdated term that is only used in Bremen for (a) prostitute who went about their business on the Punkendeich .
  • Roland von Bremen , a museum ship that was built in 2000 as a faithful replica of the Bremen cog from 1380 at BBV Bremer Bootsbau in Vegesack (maximum 100 people)
  • Ostertor , it is called "Sielwall ferry" in ferry traffic between Café sand and Osterdeich / Sielwall used
  • Alma - formerly MS Sansibar from the Rinke shipping office - operates from Vegesack on the shipping line to Worpswede on Lesum and Hamme
  • Pusdorp , a passenger ship for 49 people built in 1954 at the Papewerft in Rönnebeck and converted in 1983 at the Rolandwerft
  • Countess Emma - formerly Munzingen Castle . The historic ship, which was put into service in 1925 and recently renovated, is to be used in charter operations and to supplement the range of routes
  • Lüder von Bentheim , a faithful replica of a Weser barge from the 16th century. The ship, built in 2001 at Schaufenster Bootsbau in Vegesack, will u. a. used for shuttle trips between the Weserstadion, Café Sand, Martini pier and Weserbahnhof . The replica was named after the Bremen architect Lüder von Bentheim (around 1555–1613; created the Weser Renaissance facade of the Bremen town hall).
  • Paddle steamer Weserstolz - formerly Labe and Minden coat of arms . The ship was built between 1940 and 1949 at the Praga shipyard in Prague and put into service on July 14, 1949. After its sinking in 1997, it was recovered in 1998, repaired and, with its home port in Schlagde / Minden, used on the Weser and Mittelland Canal from 2001 to 2015 . The Weserstolz came to Bremen in April 2015 and has been on the Schlachte since then .
