Hamilton is a city in Harris County in the US state of Georgia with 1016 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Hamilton is in the west of the state and borders the town of Pine Mountain to the north . The next larger cities are Columbus (30 km south) and Atlanta (120 km northeast).
history
Hamilton was founded in 1827.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 1016 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 295 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.78 people per household. There are a total of 337 households.
74.6% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.27 people. Children under the age of 18 lived in 47.8% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 15.9% of all households.
30.3% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 34.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 9.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 32 years. 56.4% of the population were male and 43.6% were female.
65.4% of the population identified themselves as whites , 32.7% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 0.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.4% to several ethnic groups. 2.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

Personalities
Benjamin F. White , one of the most influential American composers of Christian music in the late 19th century and editor of the hymn book "The Sacred Harp" , lived and worked in Hamilton from 1842 onwards.
