In the handball GDR league of women , the second representation of TSC Berlin won the North Season in the 1987/88 season and in the South Season, the second representation of SC Leipzig won over that of SC Magdeburg . Since second teams were not eligible for promotion, TSG Wismar rose from the north of the table second and BSG Umformtechnik Erfurt from the south of the table third to the upper house. Thus both managed the immediate promotion to the handball GDR league .

North season

The relay victory went to the second representative of TSC Berlin , who were not eligible for promotion and thus the second-placed TSG Wismar returned to the handball GDR league after only one year . The company sports association (BSG) WGK Frankfurt / O stepped up from the handball GDR district league . and the BSG Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe . Both communities managed to stay in the league, although the Berlin transport company only succeeded in relegation against HSG DHfK Leipzig from the southern relay. BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt went down to third class after two years and SG Lok / Motor Süd-Ost Magdeburg after three years.

Season south

As in the previous year, the second representation of the SC Leipzig secured the relay victory before that of the SC Magdeburg . Since second representatives were not eligible for promotion, the third-placed BSG Umformtechnik Erfurt returned to the handball GDR league by return of post. Of the newcomers from the district league, the BSG Union Halle-Neustadt and the BSG Motor Schönau were able to keep the class with places eight and nine. The third climber, the HSG DHfK Leipzig , lost in the relegation against the BSG Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe and was relegated to the third class after only one year. The Leipzig women were accompanied by Post Halberstadt after a seven-year guest performance and the second substitute by Halloren Halle .
