In the handball GDR league of men , the BSG SVKE Britz won the North Season in the 1986/87 season and rose as an absolute newcomer to the GDR handball league . The BSG Wismut Aue succeeded in being promoted back to the House of Lords immediately.

North season

The company sports association (BSG) SVKE Britz made the relay victory perfect on the last weekend of the game with two wins against ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt II and Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt. They relegated the relegated from the handball GDR league, the BSG Lokomotive RAW Cottbus, to second place and were promoted to the top division as an absolute newcomer. The two climbers from the district league Motor Hennigsdorf and Einheit Heringsdorf went back to the third class after just one year. They were accompanied by SG Dynamo “Dr. Kurt Fischer “Berlin, which lost in the relegation against the second representation from SC Magdeburg.

Season south

The relegated from the handball GDR league, the BSG Wismut Aue, secured the relay victory with only two defeats (at Köthen and Piesteritz ) and returned to the upper house immediately. Of the three newcomers from the district league, HG 85 Köthen took second place and the second representation from SC Magdeburg was able to hold the class after a victorious relegation. Only the SG Dynamo "Artur Becker" Dresden was relegated to the district league after only one year and was accompanied by the BSG LVB Leipzig after a two-year guest appearance.
