history

The Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Stade Chamber of Crafts was created from a merger of the Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Stade Chamber of Crafts on January 1st, 2009.

The Braunschweig Chamber of Crafts was founded on April 24, 1900 in Braunschweig. The Chamber of Crafts Lüneburg-Stade, for its part, emerged from the Harburg Chamber of Crafts in 1947 through various restructuring and renaming. The Harburg Chamber of Crafts was founded on April 11, 1900 in Harburg. After Harburg was added to the city of Hamburg in 1937, the chamber district lost a considerable number of members. This was partially offset by the incorporation of Cuxhaven. The Harburg Chamber of Crafts chose its new location in Lüneburg, the name was changed to the Lüneburg Chamber of Crafts in 1939 after moving into the new administrative premises in Lüneburg. After the compulsory unification of the chamber districts under the Nazi regime, efforts to achieve autonomy followed after the Second World War. As part of this, a district office was set up in Stade at the Lüneburg Chamber of Crafts. In 1947 the chamber was consequently renamed the Lüneburg-Stade Chamber of Crafts.

The official press organ of the Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Stade Chamber of Crafts is the business newspaper Norddeutsches Handwerk , which is published by Schlüterschen Verlagsgesellschaft in Hanover and is jointly published by the Chambers of Crafts in Lower Saxony and Magdeburg . The "newspaper magazine", which appears twice a month, reports in an editorial section that is up-to-date and trade-related on politics, business and corporate management. The regional part with news from the individual chambers and their districts is directly supervised by the respective chamber of crafts, including the chamber of crafts Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Stade.

The organs of the Chamber of Crafts are

  1. the general assembly

The functions of these bodies are regulated in the Law on the Order of Crafts (HWO) and in the Chamber's statutes. The voluntary full assembly of the Chamber of Crafts Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Stade is the highest self-governing body of the Chamber of Crafts. The general assembly is responsible for the election of the board of directors , the committees and the management . It also decides on the annual budget, which is submitted to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics for approval. According to the statutes, the general assembly consists of two thirds of employers and one third of employees with completed vocational training (e.g. journeymen or other employees with completed professional training) who are employed in the company of an independent craftsman or in a craft-like company in the Chamber of Crafts District. The Chamber of Crafts is headed full-time by a general manager. Since September 1st, 2014 by the business graduate Eckhard Sudmeyer.
