Hans-Joachim Böhme (born December 29, 1929 in Bernburg (Saale) ; † September 4, 2012 ) was a high-ranking SED functionary in the GDR .

Life

Böhme was a functionary of the SED until 1955, first at the district level ( Bernburg district ), later in the Halle (Saale) district . 1955-1958 he graduated from the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science . After that he was secretary of the SED district leadership in Weißenfels until 1963 and then worked in various positions in the SED district leadership in Halle (since 1981 as the first secretary to succeed Werner Felfe ).

In 1967 he received his doctorate at the University of Halle with the thesis On Political Consciousness-Building in Socialism - Problems of Political Consciousness-Building in the Period of the Comprehensive Building of Socialism in the GDR and its leadership by the Marxist-Leninist Party, represented by the activities of the Halle district leadership SED .

From 1981 to 1989 Böhme was a member of the Central Committee of the SED and a member of the People's Chamber , and since 1986 a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED.

Böhme received the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1969 and 1980 and the Karl Marx Order in 1984 .

On November 9, 1989, the Halle SED elected him as district chief and instead spoke out in favor of Roland Claus as his successor. On January 20, 1990, Böhme was expelled from the SED.

On August 6, 2004, Hans-Joachim Böhme was sentenced to 15 months probation by the Berlin district court for aiding and abetting murder by omission because of the order to shoot and the deaths at the Berlin Wall .

He lived as a pensioner in Halle-Neustadt .
