Hans Buschor (born January 24, 1933 in Altstätten , Canton St. Gallen ; † February 26, 2017 in Flawil ) was a Swiss Catholic priest , director and managing director of the television station K-TV (2002-2011).

Life

Hans Buschor completed his Matura at the high school of the Benedictine monastery in Disentis and worked as a medic in Basel after the recruit school and military service in the Swiss army . From 1954 to 1958 he studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the University of Innsbruck (Leopold-Franzens University). He was ordained a priest on March 15, 1959 . He was a chaplain in Schänis and from 1963 to 1971 he was a teacher of mathematics, physics, chemistry and geography at the "Kollegium Maria Hilf" (today the Kantonsschule Kollegium Schwyz ) in Schwyz . 1972 to 1994 he was pastor in Gais AR .

In 1995, after his retirement and moving to Gossau (St. Gallen, Switzerland) , Buschor came into contact with the Catholic television broadcaster EWTN and its founder, mother Angelica . The first studio was a converted woodshed , in which the first programs were produced with improvisation and simple means. The money for this came from the proceeds of his film Pater Pio. From November 1, 2002 to April 2011, Hans Buschor was the overall manager of the station at K-TV, in May 2011 he retired from the management and has been the station's spiritual director ever since. In 2008 he held pilgrimage days ( retreats ) for the Friends of K-TV at the prayer center of the St. Petrus Society in Wigratzbad in the West Allgäu .

In a children's program on K-TV in 2015, Buschor commented positively on corporal punishment, referring to earlier convent customs, and quoted a saying: "If the father does not hit the son, the son later hits the father." He advised the children to be grateful to beating parents and referred to Placidus von Subiaco as a role model.

Television and film

Buschor was a freelancer for Swiss television DRS. Between 1959 and 1963, the two youth films Werner, the altar boy and Walter and the blue wolves were made. Buschor was active as a director and producer . During this time, the films Seven Boys and a Töffli and Hölloch, a film about the natural cave in Hölloch , were made in coproduction with Swiss television . He was responsible for the script and direction for these films.

1968 appeared with Pater Pio, father of Millions Buschor's first film about the life of Pater Pio . 1977 followed with Fátima, our hope, the second cinema production.
