Hans Dominik (naval officer)

Hans Dominik (born November 24, 1906 in Friedrichsort ; † November 10, 1980 in Hamburg ) was a German naval officer.

Life

Dominik joined the Reichsmarine on April 1, 1925 . In the Kriegsmarine in 1937 he drove from 1937 to 1939 as a watch and artillery officer on the cruisers Königsberg and Nuremberg . After two months as a naval liaison officer with Army Group B , he returned to Nürnberg on March 5, 1940 as I. AO. From June to November 1941 he was a staff officer in the Romanian Naval Mission . After three months as I. AO on the Lützow , he came on August 18, 1942 as first officer on Z 4 Richard Beitzen , which he was in command for a year from January 1943 . From February to October 1944 he was chief of the 9th Torpedo Boat Flotilla and as such received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross . In the last months of the Second World War he was chief of the personnel department for officers at the Baltic Naval Command . On April 1, 1945 Captain transported, he fell on the day of the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht in captivity , from which he was released in February 1946th Since February 23, 1956 in the newly established German Navy , he was commander of the destroyer flotilla in Flensburg from October 16, 1960 to October 18, 1962 . He retired on March 31, 1965 at the age of 58.
