Gottfried Hoch

Gottfried Hoch (born December 2, 1947 ) is a Rear Admiral a. D. of the German Navy . Since retiring in October 2008, he has been committed to the German Naval Museum and the Wilhelmshaven-Jade Nautical Association .

Military career

Gottfried Hoch began his officer training in October 1966 with Crew X / 66 . After serving as an officer on watch on a rifle- class minesweeper and as an artillery officer on Destroyer 2 , he was in command of the inland minesweeper Loreley from 1973 to 1976 .

After the extended specialist training in the area of surface weapon systems, Gottfried Hoch became a ship weapons officer on Destroyer 2 . He then completed the 22nd admiralty staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr . This was followed by assignments in the Military Counter-Intelligence Service (MAD), as a first officer on the frigate Bremen and as a consultant in the naval command . From 1989 to 1991 Gottfried Hoch was in command of the Lower Saxony frigate . During this time he took part in the first naval visit of the German Navy to the Soviet Union . After his time in command, he became an adjutant to the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr .

As a sea captain , Gottfried Hoch was first commander of the 1st destroyer squadron in 1993 and then the 6th frigate squadron . In the spring of 1994 he led Task Group 500.02 as part of Operation Southern Cross . This was followed by a deployment as a liaison officer with the Allied Forces Southern Europe and as commander of the Standing Naval Force Atlantic .

With the change to the naval office as admiral naval training and deputy head of the office, Gottfried Hoch was promoted to flotilla admiral in 1999 . In 2001 he became the commander of the destroyer flotilla and also commander of the Enduring Freedom naval task force . His last military post was from 2003 and as Rear Admiral, Deputy Commander of the Fleet and Chief of Staff at the Fleet Command . Gottfried Hoch retired at the end of September 2008.
