Konrad Ehrensberger

Konrad Ehrensberger (born March 27, 1936 ; † December 1, 2009 in Sande ) was a flotilla admiral in the German Navy .

Military career

After graduating from high school, Ehrensberger first went to sea on merchant ships . In January 1956 he joined the newly founded German Navy as a member of the first crew of officer candidates (Crew I / 56) and was trained as a naval officer at the Mürwik Naval School in Flensburg - Mürwik . He then served on boats in the mine force flotilla . From October 1963 to October 1964 he was a ship operations officer on the frigate Karlsruhe .

From 1966 to 1968 he took part in admiral staff training at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . He then became first officer on the frigate Braunschweig . From October 1975 to March 1977 Ehrensberger was the commander of the Braunschweig frigate and then until September 1978 the commander of the 2nd escort wing . From 1978 to 1983 he headed the operations department in the fleet command at Mürwik and then became head of Staff Division IV, Organization, in the naval command .

Ehrensberger was promoted to flotilla admiral from March 1985 to September 1988 commander of the destroyer flotilla . He then became Commander of the Naval Forces in the North Sea and, in October 1993, Deputy Commander of the Naval Support Command . Ehrensberger retired on June 30, 1994.
