Hein-Peter Weyher (born March 22, 1935 in Stralsund ) is a German naval officer . As Vice Admiral he was inspector of the Navy from 1991 to 1995 . After his retirement he became involved in local politics in Kiel .

Life

As the son of Rear Admiral Kurt Weyher , Weyher joined the Navy in January 1956 with crew I / 56 . This made him one of the first group of unserved officer candidates in the German Navy . After completing his training, he went to sea on speedboats and destroyers . Among other things, he was in command of the Schnellboot Greif (1961–1964) and as a ship operations officer on the destroyer 2 (1964–1965). From 1966 to 1968 he took part in admiral staff training at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg. From October 1, 1970 to September 30, 1971, Weyher was first officer of the destroyer Hamburg as Corvette Captain .

On December 16, 1974, as frigate captain , he became the commander of Destroyer 4 and held this task until April 19, 1976. At the same time, he took over the post of commander of the 3rd destroyer squadron on January 3, 1976 , combined with his promotion to sea captain in Kiel, which he held until September 1977.

From October 1978 to March 1981 he was the Flotilla Admiral in command of the Destroyer Flotilla in Kiel and then until September 1982 Head of Armaments Department in the Naval Command (Fü M VII) in Bonn. He then moved to the European headquarters of NATO in the Belgian Mons , SHAPE , and returned in April 1985 with the rank of rear admiral as deputy inspector and chief of staff in the command staff of the Navy and thus in the Federal Ministry of Defense . In April 1988 Hein-Peter Weyher became head of the naval office in Wilhelmshaven and on October 1, 1991 as Vice Admiral Inspector of the Navy.

After his retirement in March 1995, Hein-Peter Weyher moved to Kiel and became involved in local politics. He became councilor of the CDU , until 2005 was temporarily its parliamentary group chairman in the city council of Kiel and in this function played a key role in a council alliance of the CDU and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen .
