Hans Jákupsson Debes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Jákupsson Debes (born July 14, 1722 ; died June 14, 1769 in Sandavágur ) was Løgmaður of the Faroe Islands from 1752 to 1769 .

Hans Jákupsson came from Oyri and was married to Rachel Weyhe, a daughter of Løgmaður Sámal Pætursson Lamhauge , since 1751 . The couple had five children and lived at Løgmaður's official residence in Sandavágur.

At first Debes was only deputy Løgmaður, but when his father-in-law died he became his successor.

Debes was, like all bearers of this name in the Faroe Islands, a descendant of the sister of Lucas Debes .
