Hans Kaspar von Kleist

Hans Kaspar von Kleist (* 1698 ; † July 14, 1745 ) was a Pomeranian nobleman and a Prussian lieutenant colonel .

Life

Kleist was a member of the noble family von Kleist from the Pomerania . His parents were the heir to Segenthin and the Brandenburg police officer , Hans Caspar von Kleist (1647–1711), and his wife Catharina von Blanckenburg (1665–1736)

In 1714 Kleist joined the army ; he initially served in the von Glasenapp infantry regiment and began his career as an ensign in the von Grumbkow infantry regiment . On July 7, 1716 he was promoted to second lieutenant , on January 10, 1723 to prime lieutenant and on May 25, 1728 was transferred to the infantry regiment "von Thile" . There he rose to staff captain on September 22, 1729 and received the position of company commander on June 14, 1731 . On July 18, 1740 he returned as a major in the "von Glasenapp " infantry regiment . He received a grenadier battalion, which was composed of two companies from the infantry regiments "von Glasenapp" and "von Kalckstein" .

On December 16, 1740 his battalion was one of seven that marched to Glogau and was involved in the capture of the fortress on March 8, 1741 , as it was used profitably for the Prussians on April 10, 1741 in the Battle of Mollwitz .

Kleist was born on July 10, 1743 invested and promoted to lieutenant colonel on 16 January 1745th He was seriously injured by a cannonball near Hohenfriedberg on June 4, 1745 and died on July 14. Then he was buried in the church of Strigau . Kleist remained unmarried.
