Hans Müller (sculptor)
Hans Müller (born January 10, 1873 in Vienna ; † March 3, 1937 there ) was an Austrian sculptor .
Life
Hans Müller's father, Franz Xaver Müller, was also a sculptor. Hans Müller began his training at the Vienna School of Applied Arts under August Kühne. Subsequently, Müller studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Edmund von Hellmer , in whose studio he worked after completing his studies. Müller has received several prizes from the academy. From 1900 to 1905 Müller worked in Friedrich Christoph Hausmann's studio . From 1906 Müller worked again in Vienna, where he became a member of the artists' cooperative in 1909. During the First World War, he became a first lieutenant and was entrusted with the establishment of military cemeteries in the east (e.g. memorial for the IV Army near Tarnów , 1916). After the war he created sculptural works for residential buildings in Vienna. He also created monuments and grave sculptures in the interwar period . He was buried at the Ottakringer Friedhof .
