The Hanseatic nature is a cruise ship operated by the Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten shipping company . She is the type ship of the expedition class so called by the shipping company .

General

In May 2016, a letter of intent was agreed with VARD AS for the construction of two ships for expedition trips with delivery in early 2019 and late 2019, which was converted into a firm order with the ship names Hanseatic nature and Hanseatic inspiration in August 2016 .

Construction of the Hanseatic nature at Vard Tulcea in the Romanian city of Tulcea began on May 9, 2017 as construction number 870 . The keel was laid on July 6, 2017 . After being launched using a ship lift on July 22, 2018, the ship was transferred to Vard Langsten in the Norwegian Tomrefjord in August 2018 with the tug Diavlos Force . The christening of the ship was originally planned for April 12, 2019; due to the delayed delivery on April 30, 2019, the first two planned voyages had to be canceled. The christening then took place on a smaller scale on May 4, 2019 at the Hamburg Cruise Center Altona . A day later the maiden voyage towards Scotland began .
