Haplogroup B is a haplogroup of the Y chromosome in human genetics .

Haplogroup B (Y-DNA) is the original haplogroup of the pygmies

Haplogroup B is found predominantly in sub-Saharan Africa , especially in the tropics of western central Africa. It is the second oldest haplogroup and one of the most diverse. It is the original haplogroup of the modern pygmies , such as the Baka (people) and Mbuti, but also the Hadza in Tanzania, who were earlier mistakenly believed to be descendants of the Khoisan .
