Haplogroup S is a haplogroup of the Y chromosome in human genetics . Haplogroups consist of different haplotypes , i.e. variants of a nucleotide sequence in the genome of a living being.

distribution

Haplogroup S was discovered in the population in the highlands of New Guinea . It is also found in low density in the adjacent parts of Indonesia and Melanesia .

Subgroups

This phylogenetic tree of the subgroups is based on the YCC-2008 tree and its subsequent publication in research. It shows the branches of the haplogroup S and their determining mutation.
