action
HappyThankYouMorePlease describes how different couples try to cope with their daily lives. At the center of the film is Sam, a (so far) unsuccessful book author who is looking forward to his first publication. His friends include his best friend Annie, who is suffering from hair loss and believes she is not lovable because of it, and his cousin Mary Catherine and boyfriend Charlie, who are faced with the question of whether they will move out of New York . While Charlie would like to move to Los Angeles, Mary would like to stay in New York. When Sam takes the subway to a book publisher's meeting, he meets little Rasheen, who has been separated from his family. He spontaneously accepts Rasheen as a foster child, which turns Sam's life upside down. Especially his new girlfriend Mississippi, whom he met the day after meeting Rasheen and who works as a waitress and bar singer, can't cope with it and breaks up with him. When the youth welfare office becomes aware that Rasheen is living with Sam, the police come and arrest Sam. He is released shortly afterwards, but Rasheen is placed with a new foster family. Meanwhile, Annie meets another Sam who values her and makes her feel lovable again. Mary is pregnant and, moved by it, Charlie decides to follow her decision about where to live. The film ends with Mississippi singing a song on a stage, Sam listens with enthusiasm. When she finishes her song, she notices him and their eyes meet.
production
Radnor wrote the script for the film while directing the first and second seasons of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother . He soon had actors audition, fine-tuned the script and started looking for a sponsor, which he found in April 2009. Filming began in New York in July 2009 .
