The Harle Sand was a seaside resort ship that was mainly used for excursions from Harlesiel to the seal banks and day trips.

history

The ship was built in 1972 under the construction number 116 at the Julius Diedrich shipyard in Oldersum . The keel was laid on April 12, the launch on June 16, 1972. The ship was completed on July 1, 1972.

The ship was initially used for trips on the Ems and Leda . In 1977 the ship was extended by 6.5 meters to its current length and used between Helgoland , Wangerooge , Wilhelmshaven and Hooksiel until 1991 .

From 1991 the ship was only used for excursions from Harlesiel. After SIW Wangerooge chartered the ships Jens Albrecht 2 and Jens Albrecht III in 2007 , the Harle Sand was hardly ever used. Therefore, the Harle Sand has only been used for very few reinforcement trips since then. In 2008 it was chartered to the shipping company on the island of Spiekeroog for early trips, in 2012 the Harle Sand was used for early trips to Wangerooge and in early 2013 it took over the excursions of the Harle Kurier from Wilhelmshaven.

At the beginning of 2018 the ship was sold to the company Smedegaarden in Esbjerg for scrapping .

In October 2018, the Harle Sand was bought by Laundy Lindahl and transferred to Svendborg to be used there as a floating restaurant.

Technical specifications

The ship was propelled by two Volvo Penta diesel engines with an output of 350  kW , which acted on two fixed propellers via reduction gears . A diesel generator was available to generate electricity.
