Harley Jessup

Harley William Jessup (* 1954 in Corvallis , Oregon ) is an American production designer and special effects artist .

Life

Jessup attended Oregon State University , graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design. He then did his Masters at Stanford University . He then worked as an animator for television until he got a job at Lucasfilm , and among other things worked on Ewoks - The Caravan of the Brave , for which he was awarded the Emmy . In 1986 he switched to Industrial Light & Magic . There he worked on the visual effects of Joe Dante's Journey into the Self , for which he was awarded an Oscar . He received another Oscar nomination in 1992 for Steven Spielberg's Hook .

Harley left Industrial Light & Magic in 1994 and worked for Disney's James and the Giant Peach . In 1996 he got a permanent job at Pixar , where he created storyboards for The Big Crawl . He then worked on Die Monster AG and Ratatouille , for the latter he was awarded the Annie Award in 2008 .
