Harry Schnitger (born February 19, 1969 in Berlin ) is a German photographer .

Life

Harry Schnitger, born in Berlin in 1969, is known for his artistic, sometimes very sensitively arranged artist portraits. In particular, he was able to portray some otherwise very camera-shy directors and actresses.

Harry Schnitger took an early interest in photography. As early as 1986 Schnitger took his first band photos of rockabilly bands and published photos in the Berlin handbook of the music scene Rock-City 86 Berlin . In 1989 he began an apprenticeship as a photographer with Andreas Kirsch in Berlin. Even during his apprenticeship, he caught the eye for unusual compositions and a knack for artists. In 1990 he got his first cover photo on the lemon squeezer , the first official Lemonbabies fan club magazine. The album cover photo on the first Lemonbabies record Fresh 'N Fizzy (Twang Records) followed.

After completing his apprenticeship, Schnitger worked as a freelance photographer for film, art and music. From 1994 he worked as a photographer for the Berlin city magazine Tip and in 1996 he became a permanent photographer at Tip . Has been working as a freelance photographer since 2013.

Since 1996, numerous portraits and cover pictures of well-known actors, directors and artists such as Peter Fonda , Oliver Stone , Spike Lee , Roberto Benigni , Sandra Hüller , Franka Potente , Ben Becker , Jürgen Vogel , Fatih Akın , Oskar Roehler , Hannelore Elsner , Jim Sheridan have been created , Kim Ki-duk , Takeshi Kitano , Sönke Wortmann , Nina Hoss and many other newcomers and greats in the film industry.

In the course of time, Schnitger had publications in publications such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung , FAZ , Die Zeit , brand eins , Berliner Zeitung , Spiegel , Style , Falter .
