Hartmut Sieckmann (born August 19, 1943 in Bautzen ) is a German engineer and politician ( FDP ).

Life

Hartmut Sieckmann was born the son of a lawyer. After attending school in Weimar , he trained as a toolmaker from 1960 to 1963. In addition, he continued his education at the adult education center and, after having passed the Abitur, began studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Dresden in 1963 , which he completed in 1969 with an engineering degree. From 1970 to 1989 he worked as a project engineer at VEB Robotron and from 1984 to 1986 he completed a postgraduate course as a specialist engineer for air pollution control at the Technical University of Chemistry in Merseburg .

After the political change in the GDR , Sieckmann was one of the founders of the FDP Thuringia in January 1990 . From 1990 to 1998 he was a member of the state board and from 1990 to 1994 deputy state chairman of the Thuringian Liberals. In the first free state parliament election in 1990 , he stood as the top candidate of his party, which was able to attract 9.3% of the vote, and was elected as a member of the Thuringian state parliament, to which he was a member until 1994.

Sieckmann was appointed Minister of State for the Environment and Regional Planning on November 8, 1990 , to the government led by Prime Minister Josef Duchač ( Duchač cabinet ), and since February 5, 1992, he has also been a member of the subsequent government led by Prime Minister Bernhard Vogel . After the FDP's defeat in the 1994 state elections and the formation of a grand coalition of CDU and SPD , he left the state government on November 30, 1994. The Ministry for Environment and Regional Planning was dissolved and assigned to the Thuringian Ministry for Environment and Agriculture under the direction of Volker Sklenar (CDU).

From 1994 until his retirement in 2008, Sieckmann worked as an authorized signatory at companies in Weimar and Schwarza .
