Hartwig Fischer (politician)

Hartwig Fischer (born November 14, 1948 in Verden an der Aller ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After completing secondary school in 1966, Hartwig Fischer completed a three-year apprenticeship as a retail salesman specializing in sporting goods. He then did his military service at the Federal Border Police in Neustadt (Baltic Sea). From 1970 to 1975 Hartwig Fischer worked as a salesman, substitute and department manager in purchasing at Karstadt AG in Göttingen . Between 1975 and 1986 he was also chairman of the works council and from 1978 to 1986 he was a member of the economic committee of the entire Karstadt AG group.

Hartwig Fischer is married and has two children.

Fischer joined the Junge Union in 1969 , to which he was a member until he retired in 1983. He has been a member of the CDU since 1972. In 1975 Fischer became a member of the CDU social committees. Between 1977 and 1993 Hartwig Fischer headed the CDU City Association of Göttingen. In 1982 he was also elected chairman of the Hildesheim district association. He held this office for five years. From 1984 to 2002, Fischer was a member of the CDU state executive in Lower Saxony . In addition, he was Secretary General of the state CDU between 1986 and 2002 .

Fischer was a member of the district council in the Göttingen district from 1976 to 1986 .

In 1982, Fischer succeeded as a direct candidate in the Lower Saxony state parliament in Hanover , to which he was a member from the 10th to 14th electoral term. Among other things, he acted as university policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group (1984 to 1986), member of the committee for economics and art (1982 to 1990), member of the committee for social affairs and health (1986 to 1990) and member of the committee for rules of procedure (1982 -1986).

In 2002 Hartwig Fischer became a member of the German Bundestag and took over as a full member of the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Development, Chairman of the Africa Working Group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group , rapporteur for East and Central Africa, member of the parliamentary groups for Africa, member of the Economic Working Group Cooperation and development, member of the workers group and member of the Lower Saxony state group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, at the same time parliamentary responsibility at the federal level.

In the 16th legislative period, Fischer also became a full member of the Committee for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid , Africa Commissioner for Human Rights and Chairman of the Working Group for Economic Cooperation and Development of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. Since 2006 he has also been chairman of the West and Central Africa parliamentary group and deputy member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

In the 17th electoral term, Hartwig Fischer became a full member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development . He was also chairman of the parliamentary group of the French-speaking countries of West and Central Africa and host of the annual event "Africa meets business" in Berlin.

He did not run again for the 2013 federal election. His successor as a candidate in the constituency was Fritz Güntzler .

Member of clubs and organizations

Hartwig Fischer was President of the German Africa Foundation from December 2010 to 2014 . V and was President of the German Hunting Association from 2011 to 2019. He is also a member of the CARE Germany Board of Trustees and a founding member of the Parliamentary Advisory Board of the German World Population Foundation .

Fischer is a member of the Geismar shooting club from 1884 e. V., in the shooting club Holtensen e. V., in the sports fishing club Walsrode from 1922 e. V., in the sponsorship group Wilhelm-Busch-Stätten in Ebergötzen e. V. and in the Hunters' Association Göttingen e. V.

It is also a member of the Forum for Science and Technology e. V. and the association Aviation Without Borders e. V. in Frankfurt am Main. He was an honorary member of the supervisory board of Volksbank Göttingen eG from 1984 to 2014.

criticism

Fischer struck in February 2013 after the horse meat scandal before, horse meat products, of which no health risks posed by a Neudeklarierung to the boards to distribute to the needy. Aid associations sharply criticized Fischer's proposal.
