Hattenhof is a district of the city of Weißenburg in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen with approx. 600 inhabitants.

location

The village is located about two kilometers west of the city center of Weißenburg and is increasingly growing together with the city. The closest localities are Weimersheim, two kilometers to the west, and the villages of Schmalwiesen and Holzingen in the southwest and northeast. The Weimersheimer Bach flows through Hattenhof , on the western edge of the village there is a small pond (about 1400 ). The district road WUG 1 runs through the village . A planned second local area around Weißenburg is to run between Hattenhof and Weißenburg.

history

Hattenhof was first mentioned in a document in 1345. Originally, the place extended along the Weimersheimer Bach in north-south direction. It was dominated by agriculture until in the 1950s / 60s due to the nearby Weißenburg settlement activity began. As a result of a new development area that was created in the 1970s, Hattenhof now has more inhabitants than the former main town of Weimersheim. Before the municipality reform , Hattenhof belonged to the municipality of Weimersheim and came together with this municipality on July 1, 1972 to Weißenburg. Ecclesiastically, the place still belongs to Weimersheim.
