Location of Markhof in Bavaria

Markhof is a district of the large district town Weißenburg in Bavaria in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The hamlet is at an altitude of around 430 meters above sea level and has 17 inhabitants (as of 1987).

Markhof is spatially built with Weißenburg and is located in the extreme south of the city near Bundesstraße 2 . The Markhofgraben rises on the spot and after a few meters flows into the nearby Swabian Rezat , to the south the Kühlenbach flows past. To the east is the town of Stadelhof , south of Dettenheim , to the west are the districts of Grönhart and Naßwiesen belonging to Treuchtlingen . Markhof is located directly on the 49th parallel.

In 1846 there were three houses, three families and 13 souls in Markhof. In 1875 the 18 residents of Markhof lived in four buildings; they owned a total of five horses and 29 head of cattle. Before the municipal reform in Bavaria in the 1970s, Markhof was a district of Dettenheim.
