location

The place Hausen is located in the south of the Düren district in the town of Heimbach. The village was built on the banks of the Rur and is located on the northern slope of the Sonnenberg. On the banks of the Rur the place reaches a height of almost 200  m above sea level. NHN , its mountains reach 393.3  m on the Sonnenberg and 412  m near Neuenhof, near Schmidt, which, however, includes the entire district of Hausen, including the town of Blens . This is bounded in the east by Kreisstraße 48 and Landesstraße 249 , in the west it extends on the one hand to the Rursee and on the other hand in the Fischbachtal . Hausen is at the transition from slate to red sandstone rocks, the latter being popular climbing rocks until they were placed under nature protection. Neighboring towns are Heimbach and Blens.

Hausen coat of arms

The coat of arms of Hausen shows three red hammers on a white background. This goes back to the Kolf family from the area around Mechernich , the former lords of Hausen. Since they themselves were active in ore mining, the three red hammers come from their coat of arms.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1348 under the name "Husen", but other sources say that its first mention probably goes back to 1248, to a certain Wilhelmus von Hausen, who was mayor of the Lord of Montjoe .

It can be assumed that the place arose in the course of the Franconian conquest in the 6th and 7th centuries, which is also supported by the typical shape of the Franconian street village. At this time a fortified courtyard was probably built there. On this the Jülich counts built a fiefdom from which a noble family finally derived its name. Whose last mention goes back to the year 1399 with a "Daeme van husen".

Between the 15th century and 1534 Hausen Castle was owned by the Lords of Berg, known as Blens. However, this eventually went back into the possession of Dietrich Kolf, who built a new castle in the 16th century , which remained in the family until the 18th century.

During this time, the northern part of the village was subordinate to the Nideggen office or at times (e.g. 1799) to its own office. Five houses in the southern part fell to the Heimbach office by 1794. Finally, Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Kolf von Vettelhoven, who in turn was the bailiff of Nideggen, sold Hausen Castle in 1798.

At the municipal level, Hausen was the northernmost municipality in the Schleiden district between 1829 and 1968. On July 1, 1968, the place came to the city of Heimbach. He came to the Düren district on January 1, 1972. Here he was first assigned to the city of Nideggen, before Heimbach became independent again on August 4, 1972.

On June 12, 1879 the men's choir MGV Eintracht 1879 Hausen was founded, one of the most active clubs in the village. It came into being because most of the church associations and church choirs were banned with the Bismarck “May Laws of 1873”. So one was singing society secular imprint founded, but in its statutes, the service design is anchored.

Between 1907 and 1922, the choir's activities were severely restricted due to the lack of a suitable choir director, but resumed its full duties in 1922. In 1949 the choir was renamed a mixed choir and was first called MGV Eintracht 1879 Hausen with ladies' choir and for a long time MGV Eintracht 1879 mixed choir .

A theater association was also affiliated to the choir, which also existed long before 1879. The amateur drama group first played religious pieces, which were performed twice on the patronage of St. Nicholas and during Lent. Since 1950 they played theater at the small fair and initially had to struggle with falling visitor numbers due to the competition. But in the last thirty years the number of visitors has risen steadily and now seven performances are given, six of them in Hausen and one in Vettweiß. This is mainly thanks to the long-time director Hans-Peter Lennartz. The amateur drama group has been taking part in theater meetings regularly since 1980, the most frequently performed piece being Das Streichquartett , which has been performed more than 17 times.

present

Various clubs are influential today. At the center is the parish of St. Nikolaus Hausen with the Blens chapel community. Due to the easy accessibility from Düren, including the Düren – Heimbach railway line, day tourism and tourism on a total of three campsites are of great importance. The place has often won prizes in the competitions Our village has a future (previously: Our village should be more beautiful), up to and including the gold village of North Rhine-Westphalia .

The mayor of Hausen has been appointed by the UWV (Independent Voters' Association) for 25 years. However, in the Bundestag, Landtag and European elections, the CDU usually achieved over 50%, the SPD around 25%, FDP around 10%, the Greens and the Left remained below 5%.

For more than ten years there has also been a kindergarten called Kindergarten Sonnenschein in Hausen . It is located in the old school on St.-Nikolaus-Str. In the same building there are also training rooms for the local volunteer fire department .

traffic

Hausen stop on the Rurtalbahn

Hausen has no through traffic since the place was given a bypass. Local public transport is ensured by the Rurtalbahn , because Hausen has had a stop on the Düren – Heimbach line since 1903 . It was renovated in 1993 after it was taken over by the Dürener Kreisbahn (DKB).

St. Nicholas Church

Buschfelder Hof

The homestead is on the L 218 ( 50 ° 39 ′  N , 6 ° 26 ′  E ) shortly before the Neuenhof settlement, which already belongs to Schmidt. Although it belongs to Heimbach, it is in close proximity to the Schmidt district and several kilometers across the street from Heimbach. Its affiliation to Heimbach can be explained by the fact that the lands in the area around Buschfelder Hof down to the Rursee originally belonged to the Barons von Blens and thus the place originally belonged to the municipality of Hausen, which was incorporated into the town of Heimbach in 1972. The homestead is approximately 420 m above sea level and represents the highest point in the Hausen district. It is connected to the village of Blens by a hiking trail along the Odenbach. Nowadays the homestead is used for agriculture by its owners.
