Heßlingen is a village with 674 inhabitants, it belongs to Hessisch Oldendorf . It is also known as the "village of the seven mills" because there were seven water mills there.

To the southwest of Heßlingen lies the 6.6 hectare (ha) large nature reserve Rinderweide and the 5.5 ha nature reserve Alte Teichanlage an der Rinderweide . The Heßlinger Bach flows through the village .
