Heather Garriock (born December 21, 1982 in Sydney , Australia ) is a former Australian football player and coach. She is the daughter of a Scot .
Career
Player
societies
Garriock began playing soccer at Leppington Lions Soccer Club when he was six. She later played for the Marconi Stallions, NSW Sapphires and Queensland Sting.
In 2006 she moved to the United States for the Adirondack Lynx , who played in the Women's Premier Soccer League , the second highest US league. Garriock then played for Sydney FC , in Denmark for Fortuna Hjørring , in the USA for the Chicago Red Stars and in Sweden for LdB FC Malmö , taking advantage of the fact that the seasons in the northern and southern hemispheres in these countries are each summer occur. After the 2013-14 season with the Western Sydney Wanderers , Garriock ended her career as a player.
National team
She first played for Australia in October 1999 at the age of 16. In 2000 she took part in the Olympic Games in her hometown of Sydney , where Australia was eliminated in the group stage. In 2004 in Athens she reached the quarter-finals with Australia, but lost to Sweden there. In 2003 she won the Oceania Championship and World Cup qualification with Australia. In 2003 and 2007 she took part with Australia in the World Cup tournaments in the USA and China, where she was eliminated in the preliminary round and in the quarter-finals.
On April 27, 2008, she made her 100th international match against the USA as the fourth Australian player .
After finishing second with Australia in 2006 at the Asian Cup, it was enough to win the first title in 2010 . With this, Australia also qualified for the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany . In the squad she was the most experienced player with 121 internationals. At the World Cup, she was used in all four games of the Australian team. The quarter-final game against Sweden, which was lost 3-1, was their 125th international match. With a total of 11 World Cup games, she has played the third most World Cup games for Australia after Lisa de Vanna (15 World Cup games) and Cheryl Salisbury (12).

From 2014 to 2017 Garriock coached the semi-professional women's team of the Sydney Uni SFC. During the Algarve Cup 2017 she assisted the national coach Alen Stajcic together with Gary van Egmond as assistant coach of the Australian national team. For the 2017/18 season Garriock was the head coach of the first division club Canberra United FC .
