The Heidelberg is about 402 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the northern part of the Bramwald . With its peak at Eberhausen in the municipality of Adelebsen, it is in the southern Lower Saxony district of Göttingen ; the urban area of Hann extends to the southwest flank . Münden .

The Heidelberg rises in the Münden Nature Park . Its summit and the west, north, east and south flanks belong to the municipality of Adelebsen. Only its southwest flank is part of the urban area of Hann. Münden, whose core city extends about 15 km south. The mountain peak is about 2 km west of Eberhausen , which belongs to Adelebsen, 4.3 km east-northeast of Bursfelde , a village of Hann. Mündener district Hemeln , 4.3 km southeast of Fürstenhagen , a district of Uslar in the neighboring district of Northeim .
The Rehbach rises on the southwest flank of Heidelberg as a north-eastern tributary of the eastern Weser tributary Nieme , on the eastern slope the Mückenhohl as a western tributary of the Auschnippe , whose water reaches the Weser through the Schwülme , and a little north of it the Auschnippe tributary of Bramker Bach. The Thielenbach (Thielebach) rises on the northwest flank as a direct eastern tributary of the Weser; in its middle course it flows near Heidelberg on the border with the Hessian district of Kassel .
Heidelberg is predominantly heavily forested, only its summit area and parts of its southwest flank are forestless. On the mountain are part of the protected landscape Weserbergland Kaufunger Forest ( CDDA -No 325317;. Reported in 1989; 285.018 square kilometers in size). There is a transmission tower near the summit .
The southern branch of Heidelberg is the Speerberg (approx. 380 m ).
Natural allocation
Heidelberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Weser-Leine-Bergland (No. 37) and in the main unit Solling, Bramwald and Reinhardswald (370) to the sub-unit Kuppiger Solling (370.1). To the west the landscape leads over into the subunit Weser breakthrough valley (370.3). To the east it falls into the natural area of Schedener Rötsenke (371.11), which is part of the main unit Solling foreland (371) to the subunit southern Solling foreland (371.1).
