Heidemarie Scheuch-Paschkewitz (born June 22, 1959 in Gemünden (Wohra) ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From 2009 to 2018 she was state chairwoman of the Left in Hesse . Initially from 2009 to 2014 together with Ulrich Wilken , then from 2014 to 2018 together with Jan Schalauske . She has been a member of the 20th Hessian state parliament since January 18, 2019 .

education and profession

After High School in Kirchhain in 1978 made her first a vocational training as gardener. Later she studied in Kassel with a degree in social education. Heidemarie Scheuch-Paschkewitz then worked in various social institutions and in adult education. In 2004 she completed further training as a curative teacher . Since 2007 she has been studying for a Master of Arts degree in “Social Pedagogy in Continuing Education and Training” at the University of Kassel .

Heidemarie Scheuch-Paschkewitz is married, has three children and lives in Schwalmstadt . A son and a daughter were in a 2008 attack by neo-Nazis in a camp injured left teenager.

politics

After many years of activities in the anti-nuclear and peace movement , Heidemarie Scheuch-Paschkewitz joined Die Linke on January 1, 2009 . In the 2009 federal election she was a direct candidate in constituency 171 Schwalm-Eder , where she won 8.1% of the first votes . On her party's state list, she ran for a Bundestag mandate for the first time in 2009 in fifth place on the left in Hesse . For the Bundestag election 2013 she ran again for the Bundestag on list position 5. At the state party conference of the Hessian Left on November 21, 2009 in Melsungen , she was elected as one of two chairmen, which she was until 2018. In the state elections in 2018, she ran as a direct candidate in constituency 8: Schwalm-Eder II ; she was elected via the state list.
