Heinrich August Papellier

Heinrich August Wilhelm Laurentius Papellier (born August 18, 1834 in Erlangen , † December 10, 1894 in Bayreuth ) was mayor of Erlangen, lawyer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Papellier attended grammar school in Erlangen from 1844 to 1851 and studied law at the universities in Erlangen and Berlin from 1851 . During his studies in 1851 he became a member of the Germania Erlangen fraternity . In 1855 he received his doctorate and in 1857 he passed the state examination in law. From 1859 to 1866 he was a legal advisor. Between 1863 and 1865 he was secretary of the Schleswig-Holstein Association in Erlangen.

On February 6, 1866, he was elected 1st Mayor of Erlangen. During his tenure, he advocated the introduction of freedom of trade and the city received a garrison in 1868. But it failed because of the urban sewer project. In March 1872 he gave up the office and switched to the Bavarian civil service. Papellier was initially a government assessor and councilor in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, department for agriculture, trade and commerce. From 1876 he was a councilor in Bayreuth. From 1881 to 1887 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Upper Franconia 1 ( Hof , Naila , Rehau , Münchberg ) and the German Progressive Party . Between 1893 and his death he was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies .

The Papellierweg in Erlangen is named after him.
