Friedrich Scharff

Friedrich Scharff (born September 16, 1845 in Hof (Saale) ; † February 12, 1918 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber ) was a German lawyer and politician . He was mayor of Erlangen (1878-1880).

Life

Born as the son of a city secretary, Scharff studied law in Erlangen after attending grammar school . During his studies in 1864 he became a member of the Germania Erlangen fraternity . After graduating, he worked as a lawyer in Hof from 1872 to 1874 and was then police commissioner and public prosecutor in Augsburg , before becoming first mayor of Erlangen in 1878. In 1880 he became an official assessor in Rehau , then district administrator in Wunsiedel .
