Heinrich Karl Schumann (born December 8, 1806 in Münster , † January 8, 1875 there ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Heinrich was a son of Sergeant Karl Schumann (* 1764) and his wife Anna, née Meyer.

Military career

Schumann joined the 13th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a fusilier on December 8, 1823 and was promoted to secondary lieutenant by the end of July 1825 . From 1827 to 1843 he was commanded as a teacher at the division school of the 14th Division and rose to prime lieutenant in January 1838 . On January 23, 1844, while being promoted to captain, he was appointed company commander . On September 26, 1844, he returned to the division school as director. In 1846 he received the Lippe-Detmoldische Merit Medal . On February 15, 1851, he was transferred to Andernach as a major and commander of the 2nd battalion in the 29th Landwehr Regiment . This was followed on June 21, 1856 as commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 35th Infantry Regiment and in mid-October 1856 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . On November 22nd, 1856, Schumann was entrusted with the command of the 16th Infantry Regiment under position à la suite . With the promotion to colonel , he was appointed regimental commander on May 31, 1859. Under awarded the Red Eagle II. Class with oak received Schumann on 13 May 1861 his farewell with pension and the permission to wear his regiment uniform.

On June 3, 1871, he was released from this position and in mid-October 1871 was awarded the Order of the Crown, Second Class. He was then put up for disposal with a pension .
