Henry XIII. Prince Reuss zu Köstritz (born September 18, 1830 in Klipphausen , † January 3, 1897 in Baschkow , Province of Posen ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry and member of the Prussian mansion .

Life

origin

Heinrich came from the Reuss zu Schleiz-Köstritz line of the ruling family of Reuss younger line . He was the eighth child of Count Heinrich LXIII. Reuss zu Köstritz (1786–1841) and his second wife Caroline von Stolberg-Wernigerode . His older brother was the envoy and also a member of the manor, Prince Heinrich VII. Reuss zu Köstritz (1825–1906). Heinrich married the widow of his brother Heinrich XII., Countess Anna Karoline von Hochberg (1839–1916), the daughter of the manor house member Hans Heinrich von Hochberg, Prince von Pless (1806–1855) and Ida von Stechow-Kotzen (1811–1843) . The marriage was childless.

Military career

Heinrich took up a military career in 1849 as an officer in the 12th Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army . In the same year he took part in the siege of Rastatt during the suppression of the Baden Revolution . In 1873 he became the adjutant of Emperor I. Wilhelm appointed. From February 3 to May 12, 1880 he was briefly commander of the 29th Cavalry Brigade and then took over the 11th Cavalry Brigade . Promoted to lieutenant general in 1885 , he became commander of the 14th division in Düsseldorf the following year . On July 10, 1888, Reuss was put up for disposal with a pension while retaining his uniform and as a general à la suite . On January 27, 1890, he received the character of General of the Cavalry and on September 21, 1896, the Emperor honored him by awarding him the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle Order with Oak Leaves.

Also in 1890, King Wilhelm II. Reuss appointed the Prussian mansion.

Reuss was a landowner in Baschkow, Posen administrative region , where he died in 1897.
