Heinz-Walter Friedriszik

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinz-Walter Friedriszik called "Zik" (born January 24, 1953 , † June 1, 2016 in Cologne ) was a German photojournalist and Cologne dialect singer.

Life

Heinz-Walter Friedriszik was a trained electrician . After an industrial accident, he worked as a trained commercial clerk and as a neon fitter.

He worked as a photo journalist for the tabloid Express from July 1980 until his death . Within Cologne he was considered one of the last Cologne originals , was also referred to as a “cult photographer” and was generally only called “Zik”. One of his earlier trademarks was that he went about his work on roller skates in and through Cologne. He thus became a symbol of a “mad reporter ”.

Grave in Melaten cemetery

Through his work, he gained notoriety, especially within Cologne, but also far beyond the city limits in the industry. His photo repertoire included photos of celebrities and events as well as current news images from Cologne. During the G8 summit in Cologne in 1999 , for example, he succeeded in photographing US President Bill Clinton in the historic town hall conducting the Sankt Stephan youth choir . Friedriszik had separated from other photographers and placed himself on the stairs in order to be able to photograph Clinton entering the city's Golden Book when he spontaneously came up the stairs to conduct. Some of his photos were used for books and record covers, for example in Chronik Köln (Chronik Verlag, 1997), Kulturverführer Köln (Helmut Metz Verlag, 2005), in Mike Krügers Mein Gott, Walther - Das Leben ist often Plan B ( Piper , 2015), in the NRW-Lexikon ( Springer-Verlag , 2013), in Johannes Heesters - a man and a century ( Schwarzkopf & Schwarzkopf ), in Jürgen Trimborn's biography about Rudi Carrell ( Bertelsmann , 2006) and Michael Lesch as "the investigator" in the role of "Martin Riemann" in his autobiographical work One Year of Hell - How I Conquered Cancer ( Bastei Lübbe , 2002).

Friedriszik also sang and made music with the harmonica on various occasions. Some of his songs have been recorded.

Heinz-Walter Friedriszik had a fatal accident in his apartment at the age of 63. His grave is located in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 11 (F)). For the gravestone, the sculptor Herbert Labusga created a bronze cast of the Canon EOS-1 , a camera that Friedriszik used for his photographs.

reception

As early as 1983, the Cologne band Bläck Fööss , who also used a Tanzbrunnen photo by Friedriszik as an autograph card motif, wrote the song Pressefotograf for and about him.

"I always have everything under my visor, and if any of you prevent me from taking pictures, I tell you, I'll do it."

- Text in the song press photographer by Bläck Fööss; Text: "Erry" Stoklosa

Friedriszik was reported in late September 1991 in an episode of the ZDF series Aspects and in 1993 in the documentary Harte Jobs . Jürgen Zeltinger dedicated the song D'r Foto Zik (ZettXpress feat. Jürgen Zeltinger) to him in 2005 .
