Helmut-Maria Glogger

Helmut-Maria Hermann Glogger (born September 20, 1947 in Friedberg , Bavaria ; † August 30, 2016 in Zurich ; resident in Leukerbad ) was a Swiss journalist and author .

Life

Glogger grew up in Upper Bavaria . His family comes from Winterthur . He studied law in Regensburg . As a journalist, he first worked for the Illustrierte Bunte in Offenburg . He then moved to the Ringier media company in Zurich, where he worked for the tabloid Blick , SonntagsBlick and the magazine Schweizer Illustrierte for over three decades . From 1999 to 2004 he was editor-in-chief of Glückspost .

Glogger wrote a dozen non-fiction books, including a book about the "dream factory" Hollywood and a biography of Meryl Streep . He was also considered a connoisseur of the British royal family , as can be seen in two books. He was friends with Udo Jürgens , for whom he ghostwriter wrote the autobiography Unterm Smoking Gänsehaut (1994). Together with the actor Michael Lesch he wrote the book One Year Hell about his cancer. In addition, he (according to his own information) has written about 12 other biographies as a ghostwriter or co-author.

Glogger died on August 30, 2016 at the age of 68 at his home in Seefeld in Zurich. He was married and had three children.
