Heinz Awards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heinz Awards are a series of prizes that have been given by the Heinz Family Foundation (founder: Teresa Heinz , HJ Heinz Company ) in memory of Henry John Heinz III since 1995 . They honor personalities who have made outstanding contributions to one of the following five areas with innovative achievements:

The prize is endowed with 250,000 US dollars each , and the winners also receive a silver medal. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 this scheme was deviated from and instead ten winners in the field of environmental protection were each awarded $ 100,000. In a few years, a Chairman's Medal was awarded as an undoped special prize, most recently in 2006.
